How well does wpDataTables actually work?
The thing wpDataTables does better than almost anything else in its category is stay connected to the source. Point it at a MySQL query, a Google Sheet or a nested JSON endpoint and the table re-reads that source on page load, so the data on your site is whatever the data in the source is. Turn on server-side processing and it will page through a dataset far larger than a browser could ever render at once, which is the whole reason people pay for this rather than using a free plugin.
The trade-off is real, though: this WordPress plugin admin interface carries fourteen years of accumulated options, and the table configuration screen alone has eight tabs before you touch column settings. If you have never written a SQL query, the features you are paying for are partly out of reach until you learn some. Worth knowing too that the export tools have hard edges. Formulas export as values only, conditional formatting does not survive the trip, and hidden columns are skipped entirely.

Two numbers in that table are worth pausing on. First, Pro across three domains works out at $30.67 per site per year, roughly the same as Starter on a single site, except Pro unlocks every feature in the wpDataTables plugin while Starter locks out the database tools. If you run more than one WordPress site, Pro is the better deal at almost the same per-site cost. Second, because the code halves the lifetime licences as well, every lifetime option now pays back in under three years against its own annual price. That is unusual; lifetime licences in this market normally need four or five years to break even.
Questions people ask about wpDataTables
Is there a wpDataTables free trial?
No. The publisher does not offer a trial. Your two options are the free Lite version on WordPress.org, which only supports linked and simple tables, or buying a plan and using the 15-day refund window as your trial.
Which plan do I need for MySQL database tables?
Standard or higher. wpDataTables Starter cannot create tables from MySQL queries, cannot use the WordPress or SQL query builders, and has no external database connections.
Does the plugin stop working if I cancel?
No. The plugin keeps running and your tables and data stay intact. You lose access to monthly updates and to the support ticket system until you renew.
Can I move up from Starter to Pro later?
Yes. Contact the vendor and you pay only the difference between the two wpDataTables licences.
Are the add-ons included in the licence?
