Where it shows its age is the desktop client. It leans on Java, the publisher’s own download and install page still points at that requirement, and there is now a support article walking people from the ReadyNAS Vault desktop app over to ElephantDrive’s own client. NETGEAR has also confirmed that ReadyNAS systems and software are end-of-life, so the hardware this integrates with is not getting firmware work any more. Can I use it without a ReadyNAS?

Does it still work now that NETGEAR has discontinued ReadyNAS?
