What is Astral Ascent?

About the game

Astral Ascent drops four playable heroes into the Garden, an astral prison guarded by twelve boss-tier guardians called the Zodiacs. Each run through its hand-drawn, pixel-art worlds mixes a fresh combination of spells and gear, and repeated attempts slowly unlock backstory for the Zodiacs and the four escapees alike. Combat leans on fast dashes and elemental magic rather than pure melee, and a second player can drop in for local co-op at any time. Nobody on the WinningPC team has logged hours in it yet, so the verdict below leans on critic and player consensus rather than our own playtime.
