Auto Auto-Rotate does one job well
Review & features
Auto Auto-Rotate’s best trick is that it saves your choice as you go: flip the rotation toggle inside your gallery or video player and it remembers that app, so rotation switches itself on next time and off again when you leave. Getting there means granting accessibility, usage access, system-settings access and a battery-optimization exemption, and the app keeps a notification pinned while it runs, which one long-time reviewer simply silenced in Android’s app settings.
Key features
- Remembers auto-rotate per app, so photos and videos turn sideways while chats and email stay put
- Saves an app to your list automatically when you change rotation while using it
- Works in either direction: switch rotation on for listed apps, or off if you normally leave it on
- Starts on boot and warns you if a required permission gets switched off
- Fully open source under GPLv3, with the code public on GitLab
Worth it if rotation stays locked more than it doesn’t
