Does not work in [ Safe Mode ], which is critical for fixing a misbehaving computer, especially when disconnecting it from the Internet and our network during salvaging and repair.
It needs to run ~10 different background services including the ‘Everything’ file content searcher … yet cannot identify if they are running, and cannot ‘fix’ them to run by itself, so if they are not running ( safe mode ), the program just fails to complete any initiated tasks, and does not identify why.
For whatever reason, it lists 1,300+ problems with Windows 7 security. ( Each is a good read, but don’t be scared, just compare to any other Windows operating system before thinking Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and all it’s versions, 11 and all it’s versions, or the upcoming 12 will be any better )
It ignored my malware samples ( I never delete malware, I move it to a ‘malware sample’ directory for further testing and identification, keeping it forever to ‘test’ new anti-malware programs, such as this, to see if they are recognized, or not ), and I have tons of installers and programs that have hits at VirusTotal ( hits that I accept, some are merely ‘pups’ potentially unwanted programs, but some are powerful with low-level access and manipulation capability, service tools ), I have no idea why CatchPulse caught nothing, perhaps it just has no real savvy after all.
I can’t think of any ‘improvements’ CatchPulse might implement, because even if it was smart and self-healing, and actually caught things, I’d have been there before CatchPulse anyway, and not ‘need’ it.
Because I generally don’t think antimalware programs are functional, so instead I use smaller tools, like
FREE ADWcleaner,
FREE JRT Junk Removal Tool,
FREE ComboFix (OK, it’s big, with 34+ tools ), and
FREE Tweaking Windows Repair Windows,
I always check and review at
FREE VirusTotal reports for installer files AND for the resulting program files,
and copiously use
FREE ad-blockers and other
FREE filters to reduce the side-risks of Internet browsing and downloading.
