I’m a bit fed up. I get the message that the activation key has been sent to my email address but it hasn’t. I’ve tried several times and just can’t get the email with the activation key. Anybody have this problem:
It looks like you may have missed part of the our instructions. For this giveaway, there’s no activation key required.

Watch out Nero installs additional programs to the one you want in their installation process… it’s a mess! I no longer install Nero products since they started this antisocial behaviour.
It’s always a good idea to carefully review each step during installation to avoid optional software or extra components.
From our recent tests with Nero, we didn’t see it installing anything beyond the selected product, but it’s definitely important to stay alert during setup.
It installs a couple hundred megabytes of Nero Start program (NOT THE WANTED PROGRAM)
It also installs Nero Info (NOT THE WANTED PROGRAM) and although the installation program claimed it was installing nero platinum suite it DID NOT INSTALL IT AT THAT TIME! you have to login and only then does it proceed to finally install the wanted program… this is what I was talking about and YOU witnessed but ignored not realising these are unwanted programs right in from of you taking up hundreds of megabytes in addition to the eventual program that might get installed if you managed to successfully register an online account. Did you check to see if you could uninstall nero info and nero start and still continue using the finally installed nero platinum suite? I couldn’t because I could not create an account and to be honest I stand by my original comment. Nero forces the installation of just over 300MBytes of other programs and files without our consent. Also why do you link to nero ftp site pretending it’s a link to NeroCore-Full-28.5.2010.exe ?
1️⃣ You’re right that Nero Start and Nero Info are installed as part of the process. Many modern software companies (like Nero, Ashampoo, Adobe, etc.) now use a centralized launcher or platform to manage and distribute their tools. While it does add some size and extra steps, it’s become a common approach.
2️⃣ Regarding the download link — I originally provided the direct Nero FTP link to help users access the full Nero Start installer directly. However, it seems Nero’s server started blocking or throttling requests due to high traffic. That’s why I’ve now updated the link with the same download URL they provide in the official giveaway email, to ensure users can still access the installer.
your information is important but irrelevant to nero installations, they do not OPTIONALLY install additional programs they mandatorily install them, you have NO choice. I always look for custom installation options as that is where you’ll find things like your opted in to customer improvement program under standard installation settings and desktop icons and so on but with nero they install other programs that appear on the programs and features and extra start menu entries. I just decided to test this offering to see if it does the same as recent nero offerings and clicked on your download link and ended up at nero ftp page with the ASCII art below:
