full of PUP. I register in website, i insert my name, email, serial wen i activate dont activate. dont do nothing so i uninstall
This software looks very fishy since he requires “Phone Number”. I’d prefer to stay away from defencebyte company. On the trustpilot you can find few negative, but confirmed reviews about this software & their customer support.
Big piece off sh@t! Avoid it!

Yes, much better.
Oh, that’s too bad.
1 – screens not resizable, do we really need to explain to programmers that we have BIG screens and we want to SEE things?
2 – virtually no configuration options, menus toss us back to the front screen rather than back to the ( minimal ) options screen.
3 – this really really wants to be IObit, but does nothing as communicative and controllable as IObit ( not that IObit is to be emulated ).
4 hits at VirusTotal:
Avast Win32:MiscX-gen [PUP]
AVG Win32:MiscX-gen [PUP]
DrWeb Program.Unwanted.5209
Gridinsoft PUP.Gen.dd!c
Malwarebytes PUP.Optional.DefencebyteOptimizer
5 – it takes 3 clicks to look at individual items that it’s about to clean in each category, we got 8 categories to burrow down into to preview what will be deleted, that’s 8 x 3 = 24 clicks plus scrolling to take our own mental inventory of what will be done, we can’t see and review ALL results at ONE time before proceeding, and I saw no ‘undo’ options promising ti return what it deleted if we find it made a mistake.
6 – messages are ambiguous “Are you sure you want to go back without fixing? Cancel or Continue” – so does Cancel or Continue go back or what? So we can’t even make choices and then feel confident that the program will hold them together to act at once, or if we say ‘Fix’ will it fix the one thing we are looking at PLUS all the others we have not looked at yet? ( IObit has half this problem too, but IObit remembers our sequence of selections, then fixes all at the last opportunity to select Fix, otherwise, it will Fix everything at the first Fix selection, not just Fix the one thing we are looking at … I digress )
7 – incredibly invasive, loads itself into Windows directory, not just it’s own program directory, claims to be ‘Light Weight’ but runs as a service and in the system tray, takes forever to install, does not communicate what it is doing during the wait.
8 – registration is berserker – it said my email existed, but then said the account does not exist, I had to try another email, they wanted my PHONE NUMBER, seriously, they wanted my PHONE NUMBER, good luck with that, yet even after activation ( fake and use throwaway information ), it still says [ Activate ] and [ Buy Now ] anyway, so just download the trial to check this out if you care, then remove it, or don’t even download it, save the waste and headache. ( I presume they sell our phone numbers to spammers to make money, no one needs our phone number to sell software. )
9 – does NOT optimize any Windows settings or configurations, has no Windows troubleshooting skills, does NOT fix any Windows problems, is a convoluted arduous cleaner-ish only, NOT an ‘optimizer’.
I appreciate that the programmers probably might trust themselves when they run this program, if they ever actually do, but they do not communicate anything that makes me trust taking any action with the program but uninstall.
Conclusion: As always, I recommend that programmers USE the competition, then at least be EQUAL, and hopefully BETTER, but how do they get to v8 so naive? This is a waste of time.
Alternatives: anything, including Windows’ included self-cleaning tools.

Thanks very much for your detailed feedback. I totally agree with you.

I imagine by now that some vendors are trying to squeeeeze any revenue out of their old remaining products without investing anything in them, perhaps the original programmers have moved on, and the vendor has no idea how to understand or improve their property anymore.
Regardless, I offer what I can of feedback and recommendations, the usual:
– make all screens resizable,
– make all results searchable, sortable, selectable,
– make export log reports, including dry-runs without taking action so we can preview who will happen,
– eliminate ‘dancing baloney’ entertainment interfaces,
– uses standard menus – File, Edit, Properties, Print, Tools, Help, and so on,
– always report what is going on, and don’t have long dormant delays when loading or starting any task,
– allow complete controls and settings, savable for re-use on the next upgrade or install,
– make restore points and verify,
– make backup resources and verify,
– make all resources available outside the program, such as driver backups usable by the Windows Device Manager Update Driver tool,
– make fonts recallable, and fit regardless of system settings,
– use high-contrast presentations, and do not treat everything as a game,
– install complete in one directory only, don’t scatter ‘babies’ all over the drive,
– offer auto-install or auto-update of missing C++, VBA, DX, Java, and other Windows support resources,
– play nice, don’t reboot or close other programs,
– make the initial install completely functional at least once even if a trail, then back off some features if it’s not fully licensed,
– never completely expire, always offer some functions,
– never demand licenses before installing,
– never delete old versions before installation, instead install as a second version, then allow uninstall of either version,
– don’t make us test drivers turn over too much information, like phone numbers or credit cards,
– don’t make licensing too arduous or complicated, we don’t want to marry the company just to test one program,
– install on ANY version of Windows, even if separate support is needed or some features are text instead of GUI.
Others have additional, I probably have hundreds of more tips for programmers.
The user interface is 80% of the work – the functional programming itself may be an incredible challenge to get right for all versions of Windows and troubleshoot into reliability and self-healing, but they must consider that only 20% complete at that point, the remaining 80% programming must be done to refine the user interface to make the end user just ‘get it’ in first blush.
It’s complicated to make things look simple.
Read ‘Don’t Make Me Think’ book by Steve Krug, 2000.
I’ve been doing this since the first PC ( actually long before that ), and IBM originally had a software programmer’s manual on this to tell people how to format their programs for submission to IBM – these standards never expire, they are needed all the more as our patience wears thin, and we can’t tolerate self-indulgent basement-boy-programmers-on-contract who just want to whack out a fancy-dancy interface and get back to their gaming.
I hesitate to paste this write-up into every review, but some vendors act like the industry is 2 weeks old, as if they had no idea there is already great stuff out there, great FREE stuff, that they are competing with.
I imagine there are so many new and naive customers every day, that newbies who don’t know how to cross-shop yet, and they just whip out a credit card and buy stuff and move on, not knowing there’s so much better stuff out there.
I’ll try to be patient, I’ll try to be kind, but I will share what I discover, and hope everyone takes advantage of my experiences, not juet end users and consumers, but programmers, too.
C’mon, programmers, get proud, and make us thrilled to have the privilege of experiencing your best work.
Please!

Sorry, this is defencebyte optimizer v3.9.5.0, not v8, I misread log files, oops.
Still not ready for prime time regardless.
