How come when I try to “Claim” the free offer, I cannot go ahead without filling in credit card details? Is the give away only for credit card holders, something that in some parts of the world is not that widespread?

well, whenever I click on the checkout button , the page would be directed to a ” save payment details ” onscreen page which ask for credit card details even if it says ” You will not be billed today ” ! and there is no way to place an order without giving credit card number details , if the software is free then why there is a push page for giving out credit card details and send back those details to ON1 website ?
Finally I could figure it out and could get my activation number , all you have to do to use a free VPN and search for the US on it and then choose it as your IP address and then try to make a claim and you’ll get a different version of the credit card screen, also you need a zip code number for the city ( in the US ) which your VPN has chosen as your IP address … when you filled the form you will get an activation number on your mail inbox and that is it.

I tried what you guys advised to but the reason why there is a credit card page appearing on the desktop because if you check the shopping cart , you see the price of that software is £68.27 ( in UK ) but the checkout price is £68.26 with £0.01 on demand which means the software use has to pay that £0.01 !!! so that is why a credit card page keeps appearing on the desktop just to get that 1 pence from a user bank card. So the software is not really free even if it ask for one pence.

Firstly I have had a ON1 account for years and that is not an issue.
I have done exactly what you say several, probably 6, 7, 8 times and in different browsers and it comes to the same result, requirement of CC & getting a 99% discount + 0.01 dollar charge. (78,72 €FREE, => you have
78,72 €, You save 78,71 € (99 %)!), NO mention of 69,99 … anywhere.
Like a UK-based user above says, after using VPN for US IP it worked for him. I am in Germany and THIS morning, after reading that comment and applying a Chicago IP via VPN, what you say in your instructions suddenly works, as you describe.
I suspect people complaining are all not US-based based and could be told to at least use VPN and not waste time doing the impossible with what are actually very simple instructions.

Like I have just explained to WinningPC, it seems the issue only comes up for non-US-based folks like me (Germany) & I see a user who resides in the UK who says using VPN for a US IP immediately solved the issue. That is what happened with me, with everything that failed yesterday promptly working with with VPN, no credit card, etc.
The instructions are simple and this should normally be no problem.
