Why does the giveaway continue to call itself “Trial Version” in the About window even though the license code is accepted and it shows as registered to the email address I entered… Also no mention of an expiry date I can see in the user interface, are you sure it’s a 1 year expiring giveaway license?
Thanks for pointing that out! 😊 Honestly, I’m not sure why it still says “Trial Version” in the About window even after activation — it might just be a labeling issue from the developer. This giveaway is officially provided by the developer, and the license code does register successfully to your email, so it should be valid.
As for the duration, it’s typically a 1-year license based on past giveaways, even if the expiry date isn’t shown in the interface. To be safe, I’d recommend enjoying the current version and avoiding updates until a new giveaway becomes available. Hope that helps!
re the duration I tried launching the program using nirsofts RunAsDate64 with the date set to a year and a month ahead and the program did not deactivate but it could be using the update servers date header to determine the the date and not the system date API…
Also currently 3.0 is being offered by SOS site and that is advertised as a lifetime no updates license… yours is a 3.3 license which is handy as I had a previous 3.1 giveaway that allowed me to update to 3.2 and keep the license and a few days ago because they kinda pushed the 3.3 upgrade I decided to accept it and lost the giveaway license… and uninstalled it. I also note that when one uninstalls this the entire C:\ProgramData\Aiarty\ hierarchy it uses to store the AI model files, nearly 6GBytes remains not deleted and needs to be removed manually if there is no probability of re-install… I kept them for the interim and 3.3 giveaway here re-used the exact same downloaded AI models. It’s annoying we cannot stop checks for updates/upgrades we are not entitled to!
Also I note the program performs logging to a specifiable path but provides no facility to disable the logging which for normal use is wasted writing to a system SSD… one can disable the logging using a little trick I found that works… create a sub folder in the currently defined logging path called “logs” and select that as the new logging path, open that folder and go back up to the original logging folder and delete the folder “logs” and create a new text file and rename “New Text Document.txt”
to “logs” and the program will fail silently when it attempts to write to the log file in the sub-folder “logs” because the name is a file not a folder.
